I picked Maverick because I am and always will be a fool for Top Gun (and Tom Cruise, no matter how Tom Cruise crazy he gets). I was also really, really close to attending the Air Force's fighter pilot school for awhile in college - I even had my senatorial recommendation and everything. Alas, life events happened. And instead of wings, I just got wheels.

Here's two of my favorite quotes though:

"I feel the need, the need for speed!"

"The defense department regrets to inform you that your sons are dead because they were stupid."

Mine's partly my husband's fault. He is restoring a couple antique Triumphs; he calls it tinkering, so that's how I got MrsTinker.

Mine is also job related. I'm a funeral director/embalmer. In the 1800's "undertaking" was also known as "the dismal trade". Hence: dismaltrader.

Steelgunna...Hmm well...I coined the nickname "Steel" when I was younger cause I'd always get hurt, but never break any bones or anything, and I had always been the stronger of my friends. So, I spun off of that when I started playing video games alot, and added gunna to it, and it's just stuck.

Nothing too interesting. It's the only nickname I have aside from "Frodo"(due to my height) lol

The work truck I had for almost 20 years was a 1970's Chevy Suburban, that in it's first life, was a state government Forest Service work truck. Big, Green, beaten to hell, yet still super-tough (had special-order suspension / drivetrain upgrades for govt. use). When I first bought it in 1993, my wife instantly named it "The Pickle". Down through the years it got further & further from "Factory", and closer to "Road Warrior" (lots of wooden parts, non-automotive parts assimilated). Eventually it morphed into the "Frankenpickle", and I chose that name as an homage. Sadly, it finally got to the point (after three 12" diameter Oak limbs fell on it from sixty feet up) that I had to say goodbye. As a friend said, "It would take thousands of dollars and weeks of work to "bring it back to bad"".

aerosome is so close to AWESOME! BUT AERODYNAMIC AT THE SAME TIME!

MWAH!

Anywho, I'm easily entertained, so that's what I was thinking when I chose that name.

I got the nickname The Rogue when I was younger just because I was a nerd and always played a rogue on all of the RPG's I played. My friends mostly call me Keys... Lost my keys on the side of 295...will never live that down.

Mine stemmed from my tom boy days of being refused to be called "Kelly" and being called "Kel"

A friend then on old school msn tried to shorten that to "Ke" but with typo spelled "Ka." From then on I was the Ka. Also means "soul" in Egyptian which I study and the sound a crow makes (my spirit guide) so overall a good fit!

Ka said her nick was a shortened form of her previous nick " Kel". Which, in turn, was short for Kelly.

A very common source of nicknames, I might point out. :D
(say, do you happen to know a gal named Linda who lives in Dartmouth and rides a 250 Honda scooter?)

Nope, not a rebel rider, its a Honda Elite scooter. Friend of mine in Dartmouth who mentioned a rebel-riding friend who was moving up to a larger bike. Thought it might be you.

Gandalf Retlaw (walteR spelled backwards)
1) D & D character name
2) used as a pen name
3) used a BBS handle back in the modem days
4) shortened to gandalf for it to work as an email name when this internet thing got popular in the 90s
