You've heard it before, or you've heard or asked a variant of the same...

What's the top speed?
Can the 250 go highway speeds?

Ummmm. I'm 6'1 and 220 lbs and mine will go that fast too... I'd say yours needs a little work if it won't top 70 MPH.

6'1 and 250 here. I posted a speeding ticket I got a while back for running over 80 mph...

I'm 6', and back when I weighed in at 260lbs I could keep up with traffic moving at around 65 on the Rebel. It did require a lot of high revving in the lower gears to get up there, but once I reached speed I could just sit in 5th pretty comfortably.

My 2013 model did 83MPH peak, however I felt more comfy riding 75MPH sustained for the longer rides.
Side winds, and the fact that the bike is so lightweight, and the frame flexes, makes me feel like it's less stable at those speeds.

When changing to 15/33 speeds went to 80 peak, 70-75MPH sustained.
15/30: 75MPH peak (I can do 80MPH peak, when ducked forward), and 65-70MPH sustained speeds.

With sustained speeds, I mean, speeds I feel most comfortable riding on all day.
Also the speeds where the bike would vibrate the least.

I ride my '85 rebel to work (33 miles each way) as often as I can because my F250 gets 12 mpg... The speed limit on the interstate is 70mph, I can cruise comfortably at 75. I've had it up above the mechanical limits of the speedometer before (85) but I have one big factor working in my favor: I'm 4'11" 100 lbs

well im looking to be able to run 70-75 with mine and right now it is toping out at 65 maxed out.. plus it is always nice to have a little throttle left to get out of the way if an issue pops up.
So what tooth sizes is everyone using rear and in the front?

Stay with the stock 14-33 setup if you want the top speed. Even if you have throttle left at 65-70 you have almost zip for acceleration. Speed should gradually creep up to 75-80 on a level road with no wind.

What part of texas?
Thinking of moving to North Texas
gas only 1.86 a gallon currently!
Not the only reason though.
