Saturday morning 5am Rise and Shine! The sun is up and I'm ready to ride! Bacon and sausage is cooking. Biscuits and gravy, sunny side up eggs for breakfast. Frank shows up and breakfast is served. 8:30 and we are ready to ride! Off to Mt. Lemon we go. 46 miles into the ride and 2 box's in the middle of the highway. Cars are dodging them left and right. 60 miles into the trip and we hit desert land, yes! out of the city... We get past Apache Junction and the Prisoners are cleaning up the side of the road. One gives a wave and I smile and wave back as we ride on past. A hawk swoops over by and I wonder if he just wants a better look or wants to let us know this is his territory and we better keep on going. We are now in Florence and stop for a rest and decide where we head next to get to where we need to be. Some of the best roads are the roads you never meant to be on. I had a couple documents with the directions on them so I knew we would make it one route or the other. I opted for the back roads rather than the main roads though. We made it on the back roads. What an awesome site! The temperature dropped about 20 degrees when we reached the top of the mountain. The whole ride up Mt. Lemon was a twist or turn. When we got to the top I was still looking for more! Had a bowl of Chili and a great piece of Rhubarb Pie! My favorite pie! Worth a ride to the top again.. This was about a 12 hour ride for us and 350 or so miles for us. Great Day!!

Pictures to follow....

There are ways to get to the top that do not involve paved highway, should you be interested. :D

I'm glad that you had a good day, even if it got kinda long.

John -
Since I haven't ever rode on unpaved roads other than with a 3 Wheeler years ago, I can't say that would never be an option.
I think you should try everything at least once.

Yes, it was a fantastic day! I love riding in Arizona. So many places to see, and great roads to get there.

I believe that you did that 4 years ago in the rest area access that had just been re-graveled. Your hubby helped RW keep his bike up.

Oh'o YES! A moment in life that last's a life time! I don't think I will even forget the feeling or the words I muttered that very moment we sunk into that spot....

I bet RW thinks that if he jumps off a cliff we all will be right behind him!

I think that I might be to blame for that stop, but let's attribute it to RW.

I rode to Arivaca for coffee this morning; 70+ miles and 50 of it in twisties. I seem to be OK after that so I should be fine in 4 weeks for the Sidewinder trip.
