Hi,
I don't know what it is, maybe a setting in windows XP or something, but each time I open the forum I have to delete my email address from the user name prompt and add my user name. The box to "log on automatically each time" is unchecked, so I check it. But doing so doesn't automatically log me on the next time?!

It used to work really well before. Each time I opened the site, it would automatically log me on. I really liked that feature. What can I do to fix it?

You'll need to turn off the autofill on your computer. It's supplying the e-mail address and trying to log you in with that, I suspect.

I'm afraid I can't tell you how to do that, since I can't actually remember how XP did that (had to go to Fist-Ya a couple of years ago when my XP box finally died).

Internet Explorer or Firefox? It's a browser-dependent thing.

I believe you need to remove the entry for this site within 'Saved Passwords' on the Security tab.

I think Firefox will present you that option the next time you log in after you delete it from the list.

If you found it by going to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security tab then you're using Internet Explorer and not Firefox.

Here's how to turn this "auto-fill in feature" OFF in Internet Explorer:

1. Tools -> Internet Options -> Content tab
2. Look where it says "AutoComplete" and click the "Settings" button.
3. Uncheck the boxes next to "Forms" and "User names and passwords on forms."
4. Click OK.

If you don't want to turn it OFF completely, but just want to clear what's currently stored in there:

1. Tools -> Internet Options -> General tab
2. Look where it says "Browsing history" and click the "Delete..." button.
3. Click the "Delete Forms..." button.
4. Click the "Delete passwords..." button.
5. Click Close.

TBolt - Tools/Options, Security is where I see it in Firefox (Edit/Preferences, Security in FF3 on Linux).

Uncheck the box next to "Remember passwords for sites."

I don't think he's trying to prevent it from remembering passwords entirely, just remove the saved entry for this site.

tbolt, I did that and hit ok and then checked it again.

One thing I did notice was a prompt, "Do you want firefox to remember this password?" at the top of the screen after I entered a password and username. THAT seemed to be the key, since I had already checked/unchecked and checked again the Remember Passwords for Sites.

It seems the Firefox interface is the one that works at least on this computer. I'll keep playing with it. Thanks for all your help buddy!

Don't sweat it; it's not like there are pictures of us somewhere. Out of three thousand or so members, I think less than fifty have ever been caught on film ;)
