Duke: OK, there's a product I knew nothing about. Adult paint? Wouldn't THAT be nice?

John: Wow! Now available in the 64 oz. bottle! Do you know if this brand works in the bullet LEDs?

Considering the efficient nature of LED, the 64 oz bottle would be overkill. That economy size container is better suited for standard/incandescent bulb signals as they demand considerably more juice.

You guys continue to perpetuate the myth that blinker fluid has any useful purpose whatsoever. In my opinion the stuff is pure snake oil and a waste of good money. My turnsignals have worked just fine for many years without ever adding a drop of the stuff.

Jim: This is a 'maintenance' thread, so I gotta ask: Do you think it is unnecessary to change the blinker fluid at the required intervals? I guess I've just always done it without question.

Well Brent, all I can tell you is that I've never found it necessary to change or add any blinker fluid on any of the bikes I've owned over the years, and the blinkers continued to perform normally as long as I owned them. YMMV.

Believe it or not Brent, but a lot of new motorcycles have completely sealed systems with no provision to drain or add blinker fluid at all.

None of the stores in my area seem to carry blinker fluid at all, so I've always just used Listerine Original Mouth Wash. Blinkers seem to have a deeper, cleaner illumination now.

Have you checked the ingredients?

Those of you buying actual "blinker fluid" branded product are spending a lot of money you don't have to. It's 84% distilled water and 16% white vinegar. You can make you own and save a bundle.

I don't want to risk voiding my warranty by being cheap.

Yep, we've all read the horror stories about people putting anything other than the $7.50/qt HD brand oil into their Harleys and the resulting voided warranties. Hey, if it's good enough for a $25K Harley then it's good enough for my Rebel.

Well, I saw Gwyneth Paltrow on a talk show the other day, and she said that using blinker fluid in your bike could turn your bike into an automatic (or something like that; I wasn't listening real closely), and she's a celebrity so I gotta think she knows what she's talking about. So that's it. I'm done with commercially prepared Big Pharma blinker fluid. I'm gonna make my own just like Duke suggested, but I might take a more holistic approach and use ginseng juice instead of white vinegar, cause vinegar is really acetic ACID, and boy, they don't tell you THAT at the store, do they?
There's so much ground-breaking science out there. Thank god we've got celebrities and sound bites to make it all understandable.

Be sure it's GMO free ginseng, otherwise your bike might become artistic.

lol.
Perhaps some rubber glue on the tip of the blinker would work.

Seriously though, dielectric grease on the switch: higher viscosity if it's too easy to trigger, lower viscosity if it's too difficult. It's the same principal as different oil viscosity drastically affecting engine vibes and fuel economy.
