Soooo.. Been a while since I've been around, but I recently started working for a Honda dealer!...
So there I was, building a new CRF1000... The new Africa twin... The 1000cc parallel twin. After staring for a while I begin to realize that I can almost guarantee that motor will fit in a 450 frame... Anyone crazy enough to try? Lol

I'd rather have it in the Africa Twin than the Rebel 450 chassis. I guess I'm too much of an engineer to get enthused about grafting a big engine into a smaller and less suitable bike chassis. The resulting frankenbike is almost guaranteed to disappoint due to the basic mismatch. Most '80s Japanese bikes were just marginal in the suspension and frame department for the engines they came with. To go from 38 to 94 HP in a REbel 450 sounds like it might be a lot of fun, but I'm guessing it would be a scary and not very satisfying experience to ride the bike since the basic running gear of the 450 would be in way over its head at the speeds that engine could drive the bike. I'd guess such a bike could go 130-140 MPH with the right gearing. At those speeds, I want a bike with the tires and suspension to inspire confidence.
It is an interesting idea, and I'm sure some people would love to try it just for the challenge.

Kenny that used to work at Jack's Rebel Warehouse (and may still work there; I don't know) stuck a 650 L4 (850? I think it was a 650) into a 450 frame once.

It was fun. :D
