LOL anxious aren't we! BG I was told a couple years ago that it would be the second weekend of September from then on. If you need a cabin mate, you can count me in.

@ flite, the weather in Ohio changes pretty quick. Our joke is, if you don't like the weather now, wait 15 minutes. In September we have had snow and definitely freezing temperatures. Cabins make things a lot more tolerable, and they have heat if needed. Who's to say what the weather will be like...

@BG, that would be correct.

I've lived in the South way too long. Snow and September no longer compute. Heck, I can't even remember it snowing in Massachusetts in September when we lived there!

I've got a pretty good sleeping bag and can layer up when I'm in it. Are there showers available?

A few of us are showing up anyway. LOL September 12-14. The main ride will be on Saturday if anyone is interested.

Two nights ago, on Monday, we talked to Phil C. on the phone. He'd rented 2 cabins at Lake Hope and expected them to be filled by the usual Ohio group and Jim W. We told him we didn't have plans to go .. but later checked cabin availability after RW & I talked about how nice it would be to see everyone after all this time .. approx 2 years.

#44 was available!

"Must be something wrong with the online system."

RW called at the first chance the next morning. It WAS available. Someone must have cancelled. We rented it for Fri, Sep 12 & Sat, Sep 13 .. with checkout on Sunday.

My first inclination was to call everyone we'd like to see there. Greg, Becca, Pat, Logan, Steve, Scrappy Ike, Perfect Stranger, Jeff, Joanie .. and on and on. An extensive list, but realized it would be terribly unfair of me to encourage attendance which required a long drive/ride, possible rainy weather, with the destination being a campground .. because no more cabins were available. And especially, since I'm the one who believes the description for primitive camping is a hotel room WITHOUT a coffee pot.

After 2 phone conversations with Phil and one with Guba, I've got some numbers and times and other iinfo to share. I'll share in my next post which will be soon. I just need to stop long enough to eat the last piece of strawberry cheese cake before RW grabs it .. as he is threatening to do.

RW & I are going bike-less. Since we didn't anticipate riding until next year, we reduced our insurance coverage on both bikes just last week. We're heading up in the Toaster. Had we not just postponed a maintenance trip up north due to bad weather, we would not have been available ourselves for this weekend. But we are .. and we're jumping on it !!

We plan to "chill". I'm bringing a bunch of books to read, audio books & music to listen to, and jigsaw puzzles to put together. Butch & I may just take off on Saturday to see if we can find that ghost in the train tunnel who sells funnel cakes.

We're also offering Baggie Omelets for breakfast Saturday & Sunday morning.

Also early morning coffee. If the light's on, so will the coffee be.

Chili (Guba's chili this time) will be prepared & served Saturday nite at cabin #44.

(I'll later post how the rest of us can back up Guba's chili with other kinds of foods and stuff like deserts, snacks, drinks. Like a grocery run on Saturday.)

Friday nite meal will take place at the Lodge. Phil & others should get to the cabins about 7:30 Friday nite. The Lodge restaurant closes at 9 pm. Phil figures there's time to eat before closing. (I wonder if he realizes the rest of us are going to eat before the restaurant closes whether he gets there or not. hah.)

I'll leave Guba to talk about ride routes.

WOW! I guess there is a renewed interest in this rally. Now I feel bad that I didn't plan it this year! :( Last year it seemed as though it had fizzled out...

Well, Guba...I hope you have some good ride routes planned! Mark has a full schedule this weekend, but he will try to make it for the Saturday ride. I should be there though...I have no problem leaving him at home. LOL

BTW, I don't think Cagie will be joining us after all due to being forced to work. Bummer.

I will ask David & Debbie if they would like to join the festivities.

It will be great to see all of those who can make it! :D

I wasn't able to make it due to a family friend's funeral on Saturday. Hope everyone had a great time and made it back ok.

We just got home. Will unpack, then probably crash immediately into heavy naps.

Missed you, David. Bob took your bed. Others inquired after you, Del, Marie too.

Got a returned-home-safely phone call from Phil. Since he said "all returned" this must mean the following:

Phil, Lisa, Fred, Barb, Matt, Jerry, Guy.

Bob emailed his return home. I'll post it later.

I haven't checked the other forum yet, so there might be other returns there. Not expecting to hear from flitecontrol for at least 4 days or Lexyintax for a couple.

The rally was GREAT !! The people, the food, the cameraderie, jokes, teasing, sharing. Our decision to attend was impromptu for us, RW & I, at a time we initially expected just 2 people to show up .. just Guba and flightcontrol. Our numbers left a footprint (actually, tire prints) over the area, looking for a grocery store. Maybe someone will write about the hunt. Sounded kinda like an old Keystone cops movie.

Made it home about two hours ago. Can't remember when it looked so good! 3.000 miles in just over a week and my body feels every one of them!
