My route to the Cumberland Gap meet, on Sept. 20-23rd.

Out of Murfreesboro, TN, east to Woodbury, then back
road < Stones River rd > runs along the base of Short
Mountain, < From 10 miles out you can see why its called Short Mountain >
maybe 2 miles long, Can be seen from several counties. The road is 5 miles
long. End on a steep up grade, where you have to stop to turn left.
Takes a lot of clutch an throttle to get rolling again.

I will turn north on TN 146 up to Smithville, Then pick up TN 56 north
over Center Hill Lake, at I / 40
i will take a side road into Baxter, TN 141. Then pick up 56 again to
Gainsboro, TN. It set at a low spot in the road on the Cumberland River. That
the River That
flows through Nashville and end in Kentucky dumping onto the Ohio at
Paduach. The River starts North East of
Cumberland Gap about 70 miles at Cumberland, Ky. !!

Will spot it a few times an cross it 4 times in the next 150 miles.

TN. 53 out of Gainsboro, to Celina its also in a low
spot on the Cumberland. When The Wolfe Creek dam busts
on US 127 these towns will leave the face of the earth.

on up 53 to the KY. state line. rode this way last week at took notice of
a sign < Ferry > its a left turn
on KY. 214 that takes you to it. Looked it up the map a few day back, Its
free across the Cumberland. Will make a day ride out of it some time. Would
make a nice 200 mile day loop from my place in TN.

53 becomes KY 61 at the line. On north it cross the river as you ride
into Burkesville , KY,I now have 120
on the clock at this point. then a right on
KY 90 as you leave Burkesville it crosses river again.

Maybe about 15 later you cross US 127, a left which
i will not take at this time would put you on top of
the leaking Wolfe Creek Dam scarey ride across !!

On east on 90 i,ll turn right on KY 92. a nice back road through Stearns
Ky. That's at the north end of the Big South Fork Recreation area, You
can take a train
back into the old coal camps if you wish, even spend the night in a coal
company tar paper shack just like the miners that owed there sole to the
company store !!

A little jog south then back east on 92 will put you
over I / 75 at Williamsburg, Ky. then on out 92
This part of 92 very < pretty > on over to US 27 then
south at Pineville, Notice huge Rock up on Mountain on the right above the
City , It held in place with a Big
Log Chain . your about a mile from it. Chain is so big you can count the
links from a mile out.

Middlesboro is 15 miles south, Cumberland Gap is
another mile through the Big Tunnel. Should be a nice 220 mile ride, i
will head out on Thurs, morn to the meet. If you live on this route put your
old helmet on your mail box an i,ll stop an drink your Coffee. !!!

Jim Wilson in TN see ya there.

664 miles taking the scenic route of course.

Is anyone planning to camp?

I only found out that I can come today so I'm trying to catch up.
