Jim, Middlesboro is only 263 miles from our house via the back roads, but I don't think Becca and I will be able to get off again that close to the Lake Hope meet.

Friday run from 08 meet. Sat run later on.

We had close to a dozen bikes ready to roll out from
Cumberland Gap by 10.00 am. Not bad because of the rain that
Had set in on Friday morn. A few stayed behind not wanting
to put on the old rain suit.

We all gassed up for a 160 mile run. Head out on US 58 up
along the edge of the Appalachian Mt. We rode out about ten miles
pulled in to a car wash bay and put on the rain suits . !!
Of course you know that means it not going to rain after all !!
It just sprinkled a little for the 160 miles.

On up to Jonesville, Va. then to Stickleyville !! This were
Daniel Boones son was killed by a few Indians. Its up at about
2500 feet. a little cool with the rain clouds around. The clouds
make for a breath taking sight as they roll over the Mountain top
and down into the valley, The scenery is wide open on 58.
Grand vista,s looking up or down.

Took a right < south on US 23 > < Country Music Highway >
Heading down to the Clinch River Valley. On the left Natural
Tunnel state park,< Camped here a few years back.> US 23 is 4
lane big curves, down in a valley all the way to Gate City, Va.
Guess i need to find out why its called gate city when time allows.
Weber City next, then the Tennessee State line at Kingsport.

I remember when we left i told the group to hit the bath rooms
because we was on a scheudle, !! I dont think we was 30 miles out
of town before the need arose !! It was be of course.

We was to meet of with Debbie from Bristol, area. at Rogersville,
TN on US 11. we were 30 miles out on 11 when she passed us to her
surprise and ours. She had no idea we would be in that area. She passed
us all, i had to chase her down, !! She was really haulen !!!.
We all puled in to M Ds for a little break. Set a little slow pace
after that, Back on 11 heading south towards Bean Station, TN. we hit
a little more rain. Pulled in a BP out of the weather, gassed em up.
had maybe 95 miles on the bikes.

Back on 11 we took an exit on to TN. 66 this will take us to
Sneedville over some real curvy roads, signs warns of this.
Switch Backs, no trucks over 20 feet long for the next 25 miles.

After reading this sign a few riders decide to take some 4 lane
back to the gap. But some fool like myself and a 1/2 doz. others
just cant refuse the challenge, !! There decision was due to the wet
roads more than the switchback.

We pressed on putting the hammer down some of the best views yet.
but not really time to look at this breakneck speed !! Really
we was just cruising at a good pace.

Into to Sneedville a stop at Hardies, then some twisties about
80 miles of them all together, never did hit anymore rain, just some wet
spots.

Back at the motel everybody had a big grin, i think they really
liked to run.

At supper in Cumberland Gap Sat. night < At Webbs Country Kitchen >
we had 18 at our table, and the music was a whole lot better this year
Thank God for that !!! Jim Wilson in TN.

Jim, I'm afraid our calendar is filled. We won't be able to make this one.

Lake Hope will be our last for this season. Actually, if it hadn't been for
everyone agreeing to set the rally dates months earlier .. we wouldn't be
making that one too.

Ypu know Butch can miss a chance to run those
crooked roads !! You mean we will not have a Harley at this meet other than Bobs. !!
Why i might not even need to bring a trailer !!

In my last post, I nearly wrote ..

"You might actually have a trailer-less rally this time"

Hah .. then I realized if we don't bring a trailer .. and AtlAggie doesn't .. someone will have to haul rally stuff in. Guess you're the one.

Mentioning crooked roads? We decided to take the Cherokee through Maggie Valley road yesterday on a return trip. (Not on bikes. In our vehicle, the Toaster, which takes those curves beautifully too.) It had been a while since I'd been on it, though Butch rode it on the Andrews ride you led.

I wished we WERE on bikes. I'd forgotten what a great road it is .. full of curves, scenery and beauty. And rickety boiled peanut stands. Love it!

and one for those with a lot more. Thanks Jim Wilson , And should we put Delbert in charge of Blocking Rooms for us ?? we may need as many as 20 or so, There is an event to do with History

Camping at the meet !!!
Rode over to Cumberland Gap, TN, On my 250 Virago, about a 450 mile round trip. stayed Sat night in the campground, < $6.00 > not many real good tent sites,But what is there are around E 17 a grassy field
not to bad but a little low for heavy rain. some group camp sites on F Road. these are all the way to the rear
of camp. They are on high ground we could use them if had to, both sites are close to nice bath house.

prepping Rebel for the 1000 mile run,

Ready for the run to the Ohio Rebel meet at Lake Hope SP.
Just bought it back in March, 2009 Black , only had 400 miles on it,
this will be its first run about 1000 mile round trip,
Putting on a big seat from a 800 cc bike,
fresh oil, lube the chain, air up the tires, !!
Put the paper work for plates in the tool kit box,
That's when i noticed No Tool Kit ???
Would be bad not to have one if needed !!
I have a few extra from over the years, so it will be OK.
You all need to get yours ready for this run or the
C Gap run. its nice of those folks in Ohio to Host one for Rebel
Owners , Also nice of Delbert from Indiana to host the one at
Cumberland Gap, we should all attend if we can.

The licenses plates are famous for cracking or just plain falling off,
when i put mine on i put rubber
strips on the bracket, + used 2 other old plates for backing, and used
rubber washers, + aircraft nuts to
hold it from falling off. Then drilled two hole in the plates and run
safety wire through them just in case !!!
now if the whole bracket that holds the plate light and plate does not
fall off all will be well !!
Opps added a luggage rack that Delbert give me a few months back, when
installing these you loose some
of the rubber mounts that helps kept vibes to a low level, Jim Wilson in TN.

I really enjoyed meeting you. Our ride with Steve to Lake Hope was way cool.

Cumberland Gap. Man, that's good country.

Ya'll have a good rally, and keep the rubber side down.
