:(

Hello Helen people, and all you other Rebel Rousers!

My 09 Rebel I rode to Helen in June was hit by a guy who ran a red light. I was on it at the time. I was on my way to work at about 5:30 am last Friday, Sep 16. I am pretty much OK, just really sore and bruised, knees and shins, and neck and left shoulder. Nothing is broken. I even soldiered on to work for half a day after I was treated and released at the hospital.

My Rebel was not so lucky. Frame is bent and cracked. Forks, triple tree, tank, headlight, front wheel, etc. all bent. Bags smashed. Head is cracked at the engine mount. On the plus side, I was wearing my race helmet when I put a really cool bowling ball smash in the guy's windshield! :D

Dang, I really liked that bike, and was planning on doing proper modifications over the winter, still have all kinds of new parts I was going to use.

I've been riding for 30+ years, I estimate approaching 175k miles, and never wrecked a bike before. It's a wake up call. Remember, folks, you are pretty much invisible to cagers. Ride aware, and ride safe ya'll!

Having really enjoyed meeting and riding together at Helen, just thought you might want to hear.

Will

First... Glad nothing is broken. Sorry you got all
those bumps and bruises. But relieved that you
are still with us.

And, yes, we do want to know.

After attending one of our rallies, you're stuck with us.

Again, glad you're okay.

Bikes can be bought, it's good news that you are still mostly in one piece.

Here's to a fast recovery.

Dan

Wow, sounds like it could have been a lot more serious than it was.

I won't argue that, but visibility means squat to jackovs that run red lights. Be alert, the world needs more lerts. ;)

Wishing you a quick recovery, Will, and Becca and I hope you're back on two wheels soon. As RW said, just one Rebel rally and you are stuck with us forever.

I still laugh to myself when I think of your one-liner in Helen, as we stood there watching two balloons passing close together, and then one casting it's shadow on the other.

Thank you all for the wonderful messages. You are right, I was very lucky. This is one place I don't mind being stuck! Wish I could have made Lake Hope. Maybe next year. By the way, unlike many of you, I'm actually thinking of getting another Rebel! Oh, and a BMW :D
