Hmmm...I would like to make it for this since it's not very far from where I live, but it's only a week after I will have whooped it up at the Lake Hope Rally (in OH). If I'm not too exhausted and I can talk my hubby into it we may be there. Didn't make it last time, but REALLY wanted to!

Becca and I will be arriving early Friday morning. Neither of us can get off work on Thursday, so we're only going to try to make it to Nashville that night. If Jim doesn't plan a ride before 9:00 or so, we should get to the hotel early enough on Friday to join everyone.

I just spoke to Wally and made our reservations for Friday and Saturday.

GPS says 399 miles. I haven't got a hold of anyone yet at the motel, just an answering machine. I don't have any qualms about camping at Mammoth Cave if they're out of room.

Wally has overflow back-up .. one mile away .. if his motel fills.

He is registering Rebelers only for OUR weekend.

Wally is going nuts with prep for the upcoming Labor Day weekend. I'm
sure he'll get back with you.

He takes very good care of his customers. Last time .. he prepared a meal
for the early arrivals because they looked so tired and worn out. And what
a meal it was! I suspect he's taking care of whoever is there now or planning
for the weekend. I believe Wally is 90% of the reason we're going
back to Cave City. He treated us very well. So untypical of the motel
managers of today, much less the owners.

Found this pic taken Thurs of last Cave City rally.

This was unexpected, unplanned. And we, rebelers, had nothing to do with
dinner except for stuffing our faces. May never happen again. Aw, shucks.

Clockwise - SW, Jim W, Wally, Steve, John V. I'm taking the picture. And Jeff hadn't arrived yet.

Jim bestowed the title of "Food Coordinator" upon me for Cave City, on his
Yahoo website. Could well have been a result of Wally & me already putting our
heads together over a cookout. The idea began last year but was never
followed through.

Jim then posted "we (rebelers) will need to chip in a few bucks to help out Wally.
So bring cash" .. because I asked him to.

See .. I discovered that Wally does not think in terms of hot dogs & chips. He
not only thinks of ribs, wings, steaks .. he's already been stockpiling the ribs
and steaks and designated a wing expert to provide her specialty wings for us.

Wally never requested financial assistance. Still hasn't. He says he loves this
group .. enjoyed himself so much last year that he just wants to "Do" for us.

We will let him. But we will also bring cash.

Well put, SW. We'll be there about 9:00 Friday morning, with potato salad, brownies, and cash!

Greg .. Steve, who's standing in for us as go-between for food info on Jim's
website, has already passed on your information.

Thanks for thinking of bringing your coffee pot, rolling cooler, 6-7 folding chairs
and 2x4 folding table. I've still got food-on-the-brain and haven't progressed
in my thinking as you have.

Let's hold off on stopping at Sam's for hotdogs & burgers unless someone tells
us that he/she cannot stand ribs, steaks, or wings.

RW & I will be involved in making a potato/macaroni salad Friday morning. This
is a promise that I made Wally last year .. so got to do it this time. Wally
already has us set up with stove-time, cooking pots, etc. So if you think you
could handle eating my salad .. we're lacking in side dishes. Something easy
that could be prepared before hand or on site.

I've thought of simply laying out slices of garden-fresh tomatoes. I also remembered
that Wally made a great creamy cucumber salad last year. I hesitate to ask
him for it again since he's doing so much already, but since I'm witless when
it comes to good food .. I might anyway.

Oh, oh .. I just thought "I LOVE deviled eggs" Who out there is good with deviled
eggs? Again .. done before hand or on site.

We're good in the dessert department. So far .. pecan pies, homemade cookies,
brownies with at least 3 other possibilities. Of course, NO dessert offer will be
turned down by this group.

I'll quit for now. It's nearly midnite .. I didn't cook supper tonite .. so it's a
warmed t.v. dinner for me. What a downer!

Guba, did you receive the phone message from Wally saying that he'd save a room for you?

(this was before Steve)

Asking because you said you hadn't received any response from Wally.
The one I'm asking about was the second to you from him.

Wally tried to get hold of another 5 times .. then when he finally did, was
told that he didn't.

Might be a good idea if one doesn't hear back from Wally for a bit .. we're
not sure what's happening here .. that Steve on Yahoo or I here on this site
be told. We'll follow up with Wally and make sure no one is left hanging.

Should make sure that dinner nights are clearly understood.

- Friday night will be the massive cookout.

I can smell that meat cooking over the grill already.

- Saturday night will be at the PIG restaurant.

I opted for roast butt last year. Delicious. Then fought over the remaining
coconut cream pie with another Rebeler. Hah .. I got the pie. Don't come
between me and food .. especially desserts.

And early Thursday arrivals? Do you honestly think that Wally will allow
us to starve?

Just got home from work and found a message on my machine from him. Steve said he'd get hold of Wally and reserve us a room, but I'll verify things with Steve before I call Wally again.

Jim,

Another interested biker, from a totally different website than here and
Yahoo .. says he plans to be in Cave City at 10 - 11 am on Saturday.

Not sure how to advise him about his timing .. because we don't have rides
or schedules yet. (is this subtle?) No doubt that he'll make dinner but I'm
sure riding with the group is his main interest.

RW & I are packing up today. Leaving in the early a.m. towards Lake Hope.

I intend to link this thread on your website. It has the most information,
updateable, and you, Steve and other attendees on both sites will be able
to take care of questions.

Make that 3 websites. HondaRebelForum has been linked for a couple of
days.

Not sure if it was me that SouthernWahine was talking about or not, but I'll be there about that time or sooner. Sadly I'll only be there for the day as Family schedules are jammed for this weekend. If I can get away by 7 I should be there around 9.30 or so since it is only 103 miles, but we'll be coming up 231 to 90 and then 31w into Cave City. I hope it is ok if a friend tags along, but he will be on a Harley.lol!
