I saw these on ebay, they are leds lights that are also tire valve caps, They light only when it's dark and the wheels are rotating. Has anyone tried them? I thought they might be good but I also don't want be to "gaudy" Any thoughts or opinions?
Thanks jim c

They are dangerous.

The ones I've seen most often were originally designed for bicycle tires. At the higher speeds of a motorcycle, they can increase the chance of a valve failure.

Depending on where you live, they might also be illegal.

I don't know how much they weigh but it doesn't take much to unbalance a tire/wheel.
I looked at those once myself. Decided it wasn't worth the problems they might cause.

They didn't really unbalance anything--

at least not when I tried them.

But the batteries were only good for about two nights, and at highway speeds, my brother had one tear off his valve stem...

Thanks All
Everything you've said really helps, I've also decided that even if they were a good thing, they are just to flashy for me. I don't like a lot of "blink" on the bike. I would like to buy a white helmet though, more visible without be Gaudy. Regards jim c.

As for unbalanced tires, I ride with big plastic dice on my stems. They look to be much heavier than the little lights, although I could be wrong about that.

No issues with stems pulling or vibration. In fact, they work just fine. Perhaps I'm just lucky.

Well, get that bike up to high speeds on a frequent basis and let us know how it works out!

To clarify:

it didn't actually 'tear it off' and throw it into the weeds.

it just wobbled it repeatedly enough that it put tears on the stem where the tube passed through the rim: it actually 'sawed' it across the thin edge of-- of all things-- the stem protector!

I've got dice too, they really aren't that big & they are very light...it's not like they have batteries in them either

I've had dice on my other bikes w/ no problems. Lights are still silly

65-75 mph every day for about 20 miles each way. ~3k miles on the bike since they were installed. No signs of stress or any problems so far.

I did go look though :P You lot had me paranoid.

A friend had them on his shadow somehow they cut the valve stem and caused his tire to go flat. I wanted some too for my bike and the hubby said NO due to what happen to our friend. He told me If you do and it goes flat make sure you have your phone with you to call for help!!! Cause I'm not coming to rescue you.. More or less I told you so.
